Dinbandhu Coudhary Chhoturam Ohlan will be remembered always symbol of Hindu - Muslim Unity .

He was one of the co founder of  the Unionist Party which won elections in 1935, forming Provincial government in the capital Lahore. As revenue minister, he brought in changes in the law to stop the practice of usury (charging interest on interest). Among the supporters of the party at this point were such prominent urban Muslims as Sir Abdul Qadir.[4]

Chhotu Ram also propagated the idea of biradari (peasant brotherhood) among Ahirs, Jats, Gujjars and Rajputs- hence the acronym AJGAR was formed.[5][6]

Sir Chhotu Ram initially approved the Bhakhra Dam Scheme[citation needed] . He got an agreement between the Maharaja of Bilaspur, in whose territory the waters of river Sutlej were to be impounded. And the Punjab Government signed only a few weeks before he died on 9 January 1945.

His policies made Panjab bring Green Revolution . He was against poverty and well wisher of of poor and weaker section of the society . He was for Native Union of all Non Brahmins including Muslims . He had great respect for Dr Ambedkar and his movement . Britishers conferred on him Sir and Rao Bahadur but Native people called him Dinbandhu Chhotu Ram .
